NECA to convene global judicial, labour leaders on access to labour justice in Abuja

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) will convene senior judicial officers, policymakers, labour leaders and international stakeholders at the 4th International Labour Adjudication and Arbitration Forum (I-LAAF) on February 12 in Abuja.
Speaking in Abuja, Adewale Smatt Oyerinde, director-general of NECA, said the forum, which began in 2023 as a national dialogue on labour dispute resolution, has evolved into an international platform for examining the changing architecture of labour justice.
He said the forum has, over the years, contributed to jurisprudential discourse and strengthened tripartite engagement on labour adjudication and arbitration.
The 2026 edition, themed “Access to Labour Justice in a Rapidly Changing World of Work”, will examine the impact of technological disruption, non-standard employment relationships and emerging forms of work on labour justice systems across the world.
Justice Lelio Bentes Corrêa, president of Brazil’s Superior Labour Court, will deliver the keynote address.
Other speakers expected at the forum include Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem, president of the court of appeal; B. B. Bakwaph Kanyip, president of the national industrial court of Nigeria; Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice; Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, minister of labour and employment; Joe Ajaero, president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); and Jacqueline Mugo, president of the International Organisation of Employers.
Oyerinde said the forum aims to promote constructive engagement and advance reforms that will strengthen labour justice systems to meet the evolving needs of employers, workers and society in a rapidly changing world of work.
